Tonight I visited the super modern and beautiful Zuiderstrandtheater to enjoy the first performance of Blanc Ballet, a show by the Dutch Junior Dance Division.
The Hague has a few very famous dance companies, did you know that the Dutch Don’t Dance Division is a company from our town? The juniors of this company stole the show in this performance.
This company is led by choreographers Rinus Sprong and Thom Stuart, they founded DDDDD in 1996 and in 2013 they started with the junior talent development program. Both men are amazingly talented and manage to create impressive, interesting and sometimes even funny shows, time after time.
Choreographers Stuart and Sprong created “Ballet Blanc”, they where inspired by all time favorite ballets such as Giselle, The Nutcracker and Swanlake. As they say it: “A scenic and romantic danceshow, where classical and neoclassical ballet is alternated with modern dance”. Well, that says it all! Expect short different dance routines, each of them with their own character. Crazy geese, a singing Rinus Sprong, a nurse with red underwear and cool ballet.. this show is a lot of fun for all ages!
My advise to you: go check it out! This company (whether it’s DDDDD or the juniors) is worth a visit. Ballet Blanc is in theaters now, but make sure to check out their website for all the cool shows.
